Wahoos

Report Date: August 27, 2007

This summer still continues to serve up some great fishing. Limits of kingfish continue on every trip and still plenty of bonitos to fill in the gaps. We caught a couple of big sailfish over the weekend. Our prize catches we're two wahoos which were both caught on Saturday. The first was a 33 pounder that Todd Wiessman from NJ caught on a 15 pound test spinning reel. After catching plenty of bonitos. Todd said he would love to catch a wahoo, since he never caught one.

I replied by telling him that we haven't seen too many lately and that he more than likely wouldn't see one. After a couple more bonitos. He proved me wrong by catching one.
On a second trip later that afternoon. Dr Mike, Dave and Cory all from Boca saw the fish we caught earlier and said to me "can you match that". I said probably not and out we went. After catching several bonito. We hooked a fish that fought just a bit harder. Cory, who was on his first fishing trip struggled with it for a while until Dr Mike finished the fish off. Another wahoo. This one 53 pounds.
