Great bottom fishing
Report Date: January 1, 2008
Well another year gone by. HAPPY NEW YEAR ! With the sailfishing being so slow the last week or so, we decided to take advantage of a calm day and anchor on one of my favorite wrecks. Perfect north current was also a deciding factor. After almost 30 minutes of chumming we had our first bite on the bottom. A 30 pound african pompano. The next bit turned out to be a 30 pound Cubera Snapper.

They probably fight harder than anything else down there. We had 3 more fish on which we could not stop. I suspect they we're bigger cuberas. We added a big yellow jack to the catch. Just before going home we saw a sailfish in our chum line. We baited him and successfully released him. A great end to the year.
