Hot Tarpon fishing off Miami
Report Date: January 26, 2008
If tarpon fishing is your dream then now is the time to catch a 100 pounder. The shrimp run which accures off Miami every winter has really brought in the tarpon.

Although mostly done in the evening hours the last week has been excellent during the day or evening. Friday we caught 3 out of 6 that were all over 75 pounds. Yesterday we caught 2 out of 4. The photo, although hard to see, is about a 700-pound hammerhead shark eating about an 80-pound tarpon that we were fighting. Notice how close to the beach.

The fishing is excellent and should remain for the next several weeks.
Offshore we've been catching kingfish up to 35 pounds and some big spanish mackeral mixed in.

The cold front earlier this week brought some decent sailfishing. There have also been some rumors about yellowfin tunas biting a little north of here. Hopefully we'll see them during the next cold front. Lets go fishing !!
