Miami, South Florida
Tarpon Fishing Charter
Tarpon
known as the Silver King and with good reason. They are the largest member of
the herring family and are one of the most popular gamefish that anglers from
all over the world pursue.
Tarpon travel in our waters all year. However, from December
through May we get a migration of tarpon that travel to Miami to get out of the
cold water up north.
Miami, if anything, is the warmest place in the country. During
the winter months we get a shrimp run and the tarpon absolutely go nuts for shrimp.
We drift along the beach. Usually no more than a couple hundred yards from shore.
The fish this time of year can weigh up to 150 pounds. Fish
from 50 to 75 pounds are quite common. Catching one of these beast on 20 pound
tackle can be the thrill of a lifetime. Tarpon like lower light levels so the
fishing is best during the early evening hours. Usually from 5pm-9pm.
